How to eat healthy without counting calories

Enter The Plate Rule.

It is the easiest, most effective nutritional life hack. You don’t need a food scale or a spreadsheet, you just need to look down at your dinner and divide it into three sections.

Between counting macros, tracking calories, and logging every grain of rice into an app, healthy eating can quickly feel like an exhausting chore by the math but still want to see real results, it is time to take a step back and look at your food visually.

Enter The Plate Rule.

It is the easiest, most effective nutritional life hack. You don’t need a food scale or a spreadsheet, you just need to look down at your dinner and divide it into three sections.

Half Your Plate should be non-starchy vegetables. Fill 50% of your plate with greens and colourful veggies. This is your "volume." Vegetables are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and fibre. This means you get a massive portion of food that physically fills your stomach and keeps you satiated on very few calories.

A quarter of your plate should be protein. This could be chicken, beef, fish, or tofu. Protein is important for repairing muscle and keeping your blood sugar levels normal. It also helps with late-night cravings.

The rest should be your complex carbs. The final 25% is for complex carbohydrates like kumara, brown rice, or pumpkin. Often we’re told that carbs are the enemy but they are not. They are your body's preferred source of energy. Keeping them to a quarter of your plate ensures you get sustained brain and body fuel without the heavy crash.

The Plate Rule is simple, but it can be hard to put into practice every night. Buying, chopping, and cooking three different components can be a lot of work. That's where we come in. We do the measuring and cooking for you, so you can have balanced plates without the hassle.

Roast Beef with Pumpkin & Broccoli

A light, lean, and perfectly balanced option. Flakey white fish serves as your protein anchor, paired perfectly with a nutrient-dense portion of seasonal veggies to keep your calories in check.

Pad Thai with Tofu

This dish balances plant-based protein (tofu) with the perfect ratio of energy-fueling carbs and fresh veggies to keep you perfectly aligned with your goals.
