Revamp your health and fitness plan

It’s time to give your health and fitness habits a revamp, so you can get excited about stretching your legs.

Stale, boring health and fitness routines are vulnerable to falling to the wayside. It’s time to give your health and fitness habits a revamp, so you can get excited about stretching your legs.

Give exercise an injection of fun

If you’ve settled into a kind-of-okay gym routine, try adding something high intensity and high excitement to boost the fun factor. Muster your friends and join your local dodgeball league, try a dance class, or flow into some yoga. Go aqua jogging, running laps of a shallow pool in waist deep water – it’ll give your legs a great burn.

Replace a bad habit with a good one

Do you always lose 15 minutes in the morning to scrolling on your phone? Download an app and do a 15 minute meditation instead. Love a 3pm junk food treat? There's great fruit available year-round, so try replacing the junk with something healthier. It might not be as satisfying to start with, but you know you’ll be doing yourself good in the long run.

Set yourself new goals

If you’re a runner, browse all the great running events our country has to offer, and set your sights on one. Got a little extra weight you know you’ll be healthier if you shift? Set yourself a weight loss goal, and plan a little reward when you reach it. Have a goal, refer back to it often, and enjoy completing it.

Just add water

If you’re not already carrying a water bottle around with you, start doing it. Drinking two litres of water a day can help control your appetite, so you’re less likely to overeat, and it’ll make you feel more energised.

Hack your wind-down time

Sleep is essential for weight loss, sticking to healthy routines, and getting fitter and stronger. Luckily, you can get a few easy wins in the bedroom. Buy an alarm clock, so you can leave your phone outside the bedroom at night. Stay away from screens an hour before sleep time. Exercise every day, but not right before bed. With a bit of effort, you could finally be getting that luxurious eight hours of shut-eye we all need.
