Gluten free vs gluten friendly – what’s the difference?

Gluten free vs gluten friendly – what’s the difference?

With the exception of coeliac disease, gluten intolerances affect everyone differently, so we want to be transparent about how we manage gluten in our kitchens.

We’ve created a range of gluten friendly meals that are nutritionally balanced and taste delicious (chipotle pulled pork, anyone?). These meals are gluten friendly, not gluten free, which can be a bit confusing. With the exception of coeliac disease, gluten intolerances affect everyone differently, so we want to be transparent about how we manage gluten in our kitchens.

Our gluten friendly meals don’t contain any gluten, but they’re still made in a kitchen where foods containing gluten are present. We do our absolute best to avoid cross-contamination, but traces of gluten could still be present - so if you’re coeliac, keep that in mind.

If you’re gluten sensitive or choosing not to eat gluten, we’ve got some great news for you. Our range of gluten friendly meals are nutritionally balanced and packed full of vegetables, which is helpful for maintaining a healthy intake of fibre and B vitamins – something that’s often hard when you stop eating gluten. You’ll still need to monitor your diet to make sure you’re getting all your necessary vitamins and minerals, but our nutritionally balanced Fitfood meals make a great base for a healthy gluten free diet.

Like all of our meals, they’re super tasty, from rich delights like our Indian Coconut Fish Curry, to Kiwi classics like Lamb Shepherd’s Pie, and fresh, modern dishes like our Spiced Chickpea Salad with Coconut Yoghurt Dressing. Fitfood’s Gluten Friendly 6 Pack is great value for those wanting seriously good gluten friendly lunches and dinners.
